History

The Kast van een HuisŪ Amsterdam collection has been designed for multifunctional storage. The cabinets can be used to
store clothes, books, toys, porcelain or your collection of ancient stones or trains. They van be used in the office to store files,
or in the hall or entrance area as a wardrobe. As a room divider they are a real eyecatcher.

Het ontstaan van Kast van een Huis

Like so many good ideas, the idea was born because something was missing. The founder was not able to find the ultimate storage she was looking for so she decided to create and realised her own idea. A "Kast van een Huis".

Kast van een Huis styling: Room to BloomMarie-Louise Groot Kormelink designed a series of cabinets for her children that would survive the baby, the toddler and the pre-school phase.

2013 The Amsterdam Series became a part of the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and was elected and exposed as one of the best designs for children in the past few centuries.

ACCORDING TO THE DESIGNER THE FURNITURE HAD TO COMPLY TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Timeless and durable quality and design.
  • The models have to be attractive for both adults and children.
  • The cabinets have to bring a smile to your face every time you look at them.
  • The cabinets are part of a series that can be extended to build a whole street of houses.
